History

Many things have changed over the years at Facilicom. It all started with the entrepreneurial spirit of Mr Geurts. He founded the Gebouwen Onderhoud-Maatschappij, or Gom, in 1966, a trading company in cleaning products.

A total package for building management

The initial growth spurt of the fledgling company took place in 1972 after a contract with the municipality of Rotterdam was signed for cleaning two hundred schools. Shortly after that, Gom opened branches in Groningen, Utrecht, Amsterdam and The Hague. Turnover at the time amounted to about 10 million guilders (approximately five million euros). Over time, other services were added when the demand for these became apparent, such as painting, interior construction and maintenance of sanitary facilities. Gom capitalised on these areas.

From individual company to fully fledged divisions

In the period between 1979 and 1986, the family business witnessed major expansion. The companies Gom Security Services, Gom Tapwacht, and Prorest were founded and Breijer was acquired. Facilicom Group continued to grow over the years with the strategy of providing integrated facility services as much as possible. As a result of various acquisitions and name changes, the organisation established the current divisions: Breijer (construction and contracting), Facilicom Solutions (main contracting and multi-services), Gom (cleaning), Tapwacht (service and technology) and Trigion (security).

European expansion

As early as 1974, Facilicom spread its wings to neighbouring Belgium, where it provided staffing services, catering, security, cleaning and facility management.

Care and welfare as the second pillar

An important step towards developing a second pillar focusing on care and welfare came in 2014 with the founding of Incluzio. Through Incluzio, Facilicom invests in a large number of participations and care providers. A clear decision was taken to participate in local care centres to ensure flexible care could be provided close to home.
